MTV’s President to Depart

After nearly three years at the helm of MTV: Music Television, network president Christina Norman will leave the company at the end of the month.

MTV Networks Music & Logo Group president Van Toffler will oversee the network until a replacement is named, according to sources close to the network.

Entertainment Industry Vet Launches New Venture

Mona Scott-Young has launched a new multimedia company, Monami Entertainment. The New York-based company will offer a variety services which include brand and product development, talent management, television and film production, and marketing. Scott-Young previously served as President of Violator Management for the past 16 years.

Longtime Scott-Young clients Missy Elliott and Busta Rhymes, as well as up and coming Interscope Records artists Brit and Alex and BET host Tocarra will be on the company’s talent roster.

Scott-Young’s partner in the venture is long-time colleague Yandy Smith, whose client, Jim Jones, will also join the company’s roster.

Producer Timbaland To Produce Mobile Album For Verizon

Verizon today announced plans for its first Mobile Producer in Residence program, with five- time GRAMMY-nominee Timbaland to be its first Mobile Producer. One of today’s most influential music producers,
Timbaland spans genres in commercial and radio success, and now intends to use Verizon Wireless’ V CAST service to launch an entire mobile album during the course of 2008. The plan is for Timbaland’s mobile album to be directly and exclusively offered to Verizon Wireless customers through V CAST Music, and video may also be accessible to Verizon customers across additional platforms, including V CAST Video and Verizon Surround.
